Man Accused Of Rape Dies In Jharkhand Hospital, Family Alleges Assault

A 26-year-old man accused of raping a lady died at a authorities hospital in Ranchi, police stated on Sunday.

The hospital authorities stated the affected person died of multi-organ failure, however the household alleged that he was overwhelmed by villagers and the police throughout his arrest, which led to issues inflicting his loss of life.

The accused was admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on September 8 with excessive blood urea and rectal bleeding, a senior physician stated.

“The patient died of multi-organ failure on Saturday night,” Dr. Rajiv Ranjan, RIMS public relation officer, informed Press Trust of India.

The accused had been arrested on August 28 following a criticism filed by the woman at Narkopi police station in Ranchi district. He was later forwarded to Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi.

The 15-year-old woman in her criticism had alleged that the accused forcibly entered her home and dedicated the crime when her relations had gone out for agricultural work.

Narkopi police station in-charge Avinash Kumar stated, “The accused was medically examined before he was sent to jail. We have the medical certificate which declared him fit,” he informed PTI.

The accused fell sick three or 4 days after he was jailed, the police officer stated.

“He was provided treatment by jail doctors. When his condition did not improve, he was admitted to the prison ward in RIMS but he died,” Mr Kumar stated.

When requested if the accused was overwhelmed throughout his arrest, he stated that irate villagers had gathered in giant numbers.

“The accused was protected from villagers’ wrath and brought safely to the police station. He was physically fit when he was sent to jail,” he stated.
